Most wearers don’t know the picture or the inscription.

There is a lovely story of Sr. Catherine being invited to meet Our Lady in the convent chapel.
“Come to the foot of this altar…”
There, Catherine saw the vision we know of as The Miraculous Medal, with the inscription,
“O Mary conceived without sin pray for us who have recourse to Thee.”
Eventually the medal was struck.
It became a world best seller.
Sadly, mainly as a piece of bling.
“What is your issue Michael?” you ask…

Michael’s comment

I have many issues, do you not?

  1. The Immaculate Conception. She places Her identity front and center, 24 years before the dogma.
  2. The rays from Her fingers are the graces from Jesus.
  3. Her presentation as restraining Satan is Her promise to assist souls at death.
  4. The inscription is a common one, at first glance, but it is the only one in Catholic Liturgy with the qualifying words… “…who have recourse to Thee.” She reportedly confirmed this when asked why some graces were missing. Our Lady’s response was that certain graces were not being requested.
  5. Over the years many miracles were associated with the medal.

My Take…

The medal is a best seller, and a miracle worker.
Most wearers don’t know the picture or the inscription.
Catherine’s body is preserved, and viewable in Paris today.

For me, this is Heaven in action.

WHY DON’T WE KNOW ABOUT IT?
