Lourdes 1858: the message turns to penance, prayer for sinners and conversion, and the Lady names herself the Immaculate Conception. Michael asks why so few miracles are recognised.

“I do not promise to make you happy in this world, but in the next.”

The message changes from Her saying She can help us, to what we must do: penance, prayer for sinners, and conversion.
“I do not promise to make you happy in this world, but in the next.”
“Penance! Penance! Penance!… for sinners”…
Salvation of souls is the message.
The healing water appeared.
The request for a chapel was made.
They requested Her name.
“I am the Immaculate Conception.”
Four years after 1854, that’s significant.
There were eighteen visitations.
Confirmed by the Church in 1862.
“What is your issue Michael?” you ask…

Michael’s comment

I really only have one issue.
The story of Lourdes is pretty well known.
It is a massive site for pilgrimage, for all sorts of healing.
Millions visit every year, most asking for something.
Everyone prays for sinners.
Again, the salvation of souls is what it’s about.
Most experience some kind of wellbeing at least.
For a gift from Heaven of Healing Water,
visited by millions of very sick people,

BUT WHY ONLY 70 MIRACLES?

My Take

I can’t shake the feeling that for both Paris and Lourdes,
while the immediate earthly benefits can be huge,
there is an underlying warning.
The gift is for individuals.
The warning is for all of us.
We must turn back to God!
Do we?
I have the benefit of hindsight today.
Pope Pius X and Our Lady of Fatima say…

NO, WE DID NOT!

Just a Thought

Heaven knew in advance what we, and the Church, would and would not do, and went ahead anyway.
